W przeglądzie zaginionych meteorytów w zbiorach polskich Jerzy Pokrzywnicki (Pokrzywnicki 1964, Bulletin) przytacza informację o małym okazie meteorytu żelaznego znalezionym w 1914 roku w Krotoszynie. Okaz ten jakoby spadł na miejskiej strzelnicy:

(…) 5. The following information was given me by Prof. dr. Bolewski from Krotoszyn: He had in his possession an iron fragment which towards the end of 1914 had been given him by a German officer. ”It was, wrote the doctor”, like a fragment of a grenade, the size of a large chestnut, sharp edged, rather heavy, almost black, differing in surface, weight and colour from an ordinary canon shell. It fell during the night and burst with an unusual noise and flame on a concrete army shooting-range in the municipal forest. The Germans took it for a meteorite”. Dr. Bolewski said further that the fragment was lost while he was on leave and was not recovered. |
